Can dogs have aloe vera to help with skin irritations?

Aloe vera is good for skin irritations and aloe plants do grow in warm climates. But you have to get the right kind. When it comes to aloe plants, there is a difference between the aloe barbadensis and aloe plantifolia. The aloe vera is aloe barbadensis milky sap. It is not usually good for skin problems and if you put a drop or a few drops of this plant on your skin it will sting and burn. But what is good is this plant makes a very soothing compress. It can help with skin problems like the sun burns. It is not only good for skin irritations but it also improves blood circulation.

You can give your dog some aloe vera to help with skin irritations. If your dog has been scratching excessively and his skin is irritated he can have some of this on a piece of gauze or cloth. Let him lick it for a while, and then remove it. It is not a good idea to put it on the whole body. But the good news is it is an excellent skin softener. So if he has a sunburn you can use this to help with the itching and you can put some on a piece of gauze or cloth and rub it on his skin. If he has scratches and other skin irritations like dandruff or excessive shedding you can have him eat this once or twice a day. It can help his skin a lot.

You can use aloe vera to treat some forms of diabetes. And this is because of the polysaccharides it has. This has a very relaxing effect on your body. You can either buy it as aloe vera gel from the store or you can make your own at home. Simply mix one part water to two parts aloe vera gel, and then squeeze it out. Let him lather himself in it. He will find it very relaxing and soothing. And there is no side effects of using it on your dog. So it is a safe product to use on your dog.
